[Jakarta, June 3, 2024] – Anak Muda Amankan Nusantara (AMAN), an organization representing the aspirations of youth, particularly diaspora and post-diaspora communities, officially announced its commitment as the first volunteer group for the Prabowo-Gibran ticket dedicated to achieving Net Zero Carbon. This initiative marks a concrete step in supporting sustainability and carbon emission management during the campaign period.

As a platform for aspirations, AMAN serves young generations with a vision in various strategic sectors, such as diaspora, energy resilience, sustainable environments, and food security, aligning with the vision and mission of Candidate Pair 02, Prabowo-Gibran.

To realize this commitment, AMAN has partnered with Carbon Circle, a tech-based startup specializing in carbon accounting. Based on a preliminary audit, the total emissions generated from AMAN’s operational and campaign activities reached 17,693 tons of CO2 equivalent.

James Karnadi, Chairman of AMAN, explained, “The preliminary audit results indicate approximately 17,693 tons of CO2e. To compensate for this, we are committed to planting 10,000 Rhizophora mangrove trees in 2024. These trees not only provide ecological benefits but also have high economic and ethnobotanical value.”

AMAN's efforts have gained significant attention. Media outlets such as MetroTV highlighted that planting Rhizophora mangroves can support the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, TVOne reported that AMAN’s initiative reinforces the commitment of young people to sustainable campaigns.

This initiative positions AMAN as a pioneer in implementing carbon accounting at the volunteer organization level. AMAN hopes this step will inspire other organizations to conduct carbon accounting and contribute to offsetting their carbon footprints. It also reflects support for Indonesia’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) 2030 commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Feiral Rizky Batubara, Chairman of AMAN’s Advisory Board, extended a collaborative invitation to various societal elements. “We invite everyone—organizations, corporations, and communities—to actively participate in supporting Indonesia’s NDC 2030,” he emphasized.

Similarly, Andrew Bill Nathaniel, Secretary General of AMAN, expressed optimism about the impact of this movement. “This initiative is AMAN’s contribution to national interests, protecting natural resources while strengthening efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change for Indonesia’s future,” Andrew stated.
